Meal Plan (Week of January 20th)

Blog

19 Jan

As I’ve said before, one of my most effective ways to save money is to meal plan. I combine this with not eating out very often. These two things save me hundreds to thousands of dollars a year.

Therefore, I am going to make an effort to save my weekly meal plans with you along with how much these meals cost. I hope this can encourage you to eat healthier and cheaper!

Meals this Week:

  • Lasagna (I just picked a recipe for this link – I don’t use a recipe for this, I just do it by memory)
  • Fried Rice *Can make Vegetarian (I hate eggs so I don’t use those, and I like bacon, so I add that)
  • Fajitas
  • Chipotle Chicken Skewers
  • Sweet Potato and Bean Enchiladas (never ate these the other week so they’re still on the list) *Vegetarian

Just a note that the following grocery store list includes everything we eat in a week. So snacks at work, meal prep for dinner and lunches, for every day of the week.

Our Grocery Store Shopping list:

  • Apples $3.86
  • Clementines $2.98

  • Green Onions $.50
  • Blueberries $1.96
  • Lettuce $1.29

  • Butter $3.29
  • Ricotta Cheese $3.99
  • Eggs $0.99
  • Pineapple Juice $3.59
  • Tortillas $1.39
  • Milk $1.59
  • Silk Milk $3.49

Total for the shopping trip = $84.33

A dinner out for two people can cost at least $30, all the way up to $100+ depending on where you go and what you order. For the whole week, we spent about $85. Some weeks we get away with spending $30-50, but then when we have to buy more it is closer to $75-$100. But at least this is all the food we eat in a week. We pack up our leftovers for lunches so we don’t eat out. Eating out and buying coffee every day can cost at least $10 a day or even more!

If you don’t want to create a meal plan for yourself, go try $5 Meal Plan. It has the recipes and ingredient lists ready for you.

I hope that sharing these meal plans gives you some ideas for your own meals and saves you some $$$!
