Meal Plan: Week of March 10th

Blog

10 Mar

Meal Planning is one of my biggest money savers every single month. I want to provide my meal plans for free so others can eat healthier and learn to plan their own meals to save money.

Are you new to meal planning? Check out my post that tells you exactly the steps I follow to plan my meals. Too lazy to find recipes and make the shopping list? That’s ok too – $5 Meal Plan is the way to go. It does the work for you.

Here are the recipes we are making this week:

  1. Carnitas
  2. Chicken Parmesan
  3. Honey Chipotle BBQ Chicken Skewers
  4. Chicken fajitas in sweet potato skins

My grocery store shopping list:

  • Strawberries $1.50
  • Apples $7.61
  • Cilantro $0.50
  • Lemons $2.00
  • Limes $3.00
  • Oranges $0.95
  • Bell Peppers $3.00
  • Tomatos $0.52
  • Bananas $0.66
  • Onions $0.77
  • Chicken Breasts $22.48
  • Hashbrowns $5.97
  • Eggs $1.59
  • Cheese $6.28
  • Pasta $3.00
  • Pork Roast $14.51
  • Pepper $1.29

Total $77.80

That’s just $38.90 per person for all our meals this week! I do purchase meat in bulk – today we bought 3 large packages of chicken and a pork roast. After bringing the chicken home we trim any fat, put it in ziploc bags and freeze it. When you buy in bulk, it can be so much more cost effective – we save a lot of money this way.

Meal planning and not eating out can save you so much money! You can also pick recipes that have less expensive ingredients if you want to save even more. Use $5 meal plan if you don’t have the time or patience to plan out meals like I do.

Don’t forget to pack your own lunch for work as well as make coffee and breakfast at home. You’ll save so much money if you don’t buy food and drinks outside of the grocery store. This easily adds up to hundreds of dollars of savings every month!
